UCHAPS Membership meeting information
Flights will be available for online checkin 24 hours before the departure time. The Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) is located11 miles. The flat rate taxicab fare from BWI to the harbor is approximately $30 and should take about 25 minutes to arrive at the hotel. Penn Station is located 2 miles from the host hotel. The fare is about $12 and should take about10 minutes to arrive. If you have any questions about travel to the meeting, contact Kirby Reed at email@example.com immediately.
On Sunday morning at 8:30 AM, UCHAPS will provide a hot breakfast and coffee. On Monday, we ask that you take care of your own breakfast. The hotel offers room service and there is an onsite restaurant. There are also various options in the area surrounding the hotel. Lunch will be provided on Sunday and Monday but please be sure to make your own dinner arrangements each night.
Saturday, October 21
The UCHAPS membership meeting will open with a event has highlights the work of the Baltimore City Health Department on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 7 PM at the Lord Baltimore Hotel located at 20 West Baltimore Street. The reception will be held in the Baltimore Theatre on the Mezzanine Level.
The Baltimore City Health Department is addressing social stigma related to sexual identity and health with Project Presence. Project Presence is a bi-annual community-organized visual storytelling exhibition showcasing the lives and narratives of LGBTQ, same-gender-loving people of color and allies in Baltimore City. By being visible, the models in this exhibit are doing something to address stigmas such as bullying, rejection, feeling unsafe, and being treated unfairly. This exhibit will be featured throughout the weekend in the lobby of the Lord Baltimore Hotel.
The event will open with a few words from Kevin Jones, the Executive Director of UCHAPS and Kenny Bademosi, the lead for Project Presence.
Sunday, October 22
Membership Meeting Day One
The membership meeting will be held in the Calvert Ballroom on the Ballroom Level of the Lord Baltimore Hotel.
During the meeting, participants will discuss the pubic health model for molecular HIV surveillance, debunk myths about molecular surveillance, identify benefits of molecular surveillance, and share best practices in community and government molecular HIV surveillance programs.
By the end of the membership meeting, participants will be able to identify the HIV molecular surveillance and its purpose as well as best practices in community and government molecular surveillance programs and potential benefits in HIV.

On Sunday, October 22, Baltimore has arranged for a cooking class at Schola Cooking School. It is located at 1005 N. Charles Street in Baltimore, MD 21201. The cost to attend is $50 and the menu will be determined soon.
